Our Chimney Lining System
Repair Procedures

Because no two chimneys are identical, we have two options for repairing chimney lining systems. Different damages and hazards call for different reline repair procedures. Determining which route is best for your chimney system starts by inspecting the level of decay on the interior of the flue. At SafeHome, we offer stainless steel relining, as well as HeatShield Cerfractory Flue Sealant to ensure your chimney operates at its highest and safest potential.

Stainless Steel Relining

The vast majority of chimneys were traditionally lined with clay flue tiles, which eventually deteriorate and fail to function the way they are supposed to. These clay flue tiles can crack very easily. When this occurs, your safety is put at risk. When fires are held in the fireplace it causes these cracks to expand, allowing smoke to become trapped in the voids and empty joints, increasing the possibility of a chimney fire.

At SafeHome, we will reline your chimney with a stainless steel liner. These liners completely seal the vertical run of your fireplace, allowing the soot and creosote of wood-burning, exhaust from the fire, and any sparks that may be produced to exit your home.  When installing a stainless steel liner, we will also ensure that the smoke chamber is fully sealed and properly insulated as needed.

HeatShield Resurfacing Application

HeatShield is a specially formulated cerfractory sealant material that restores the integrity of your chimney's flue, allowing hazardous flue gases to properly vent from your home. This process eliminates the hazards caused by gaps, cracks, and spalling by repairing missing or defective mortar joints in your chimney. With HeatShield, your chimney will be restored back to its original peak level of safety and efficiency for years to come.

The HeatShield resurfacing system is used to apply a coating over the entire flue of chimneys that have cracked or spalled flues but are otherwise sound.

At the bottom of the flue, a specially made custom foam applicator plug is placed and attached to a winch at the top of the chimney. The cerfractory sealant material is applied to the flue walls as the plug is pulled upward by the winch. This procedure is specifically designed to restore the interior surface of your chimney's flue.

HeatShield Joint Repair Application

With the help of HeatShield, a specially designed cerfractory sealant material, you can properly vent dangerous flue gases from your home by restoring the integrity of your chimney's flue. This procedure fixes any missing or damaged mortar joints in your chimney, removing the risks brought on by gaps, cracks, and spalling. Your chimney's safety and efficiency will be returned to its original peak for many years to come with HeatShield.

Before starting the repair, a unique foam applicator blade is custom manufactured to fit your chimney. The applicator tool is placed beneath each void or gap. The tool pushes the HeatShield Cerfractory Flue Sealant mixture into each void in your flue, filling it completely. The tool is then pulled upwards to smooth out the repaired void.
